HTM On The Line with BRYANT HAWKINS SR.
The Pressure Is Preparing You
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In this powerful episode, The Pressure Is Preparing You, we talk about the unseen weight many Healthcare Technology Management professionals carry every day.
HTM is not built in comfort. It is built through emergency calls, late nights, missed lunches, downtime situations, and moments where patients are depending on equipment most people never think about.
This episode is a reminder that pressure is not always punishment. Sometimes, it is preparation. The challenges, delays, and difficult seasons you face may be developing the endurance, leadership, and purpose needed for your next level.
Whether you are new to the HTM field or have been serving for decades, your work matters. Your sacrifice matters. Your impact is real, even when it goes unseen.
This one is for every HTM professional who has ever felt overlooked, exhausted, or questioned if their effort still matters.
Keep going. The pressure is preparing you.

Strength When Nobody Notices
SPEAKER_00There's a different kind of strength rounding the people who keep showing up. Even when life becomes heavier than they expected. Not when the spotlight is shining. Not when the recognition comes easily. Not when everything is going according to plan. Real strength shows up when the days are long, the pressure is high, and nobody seems to notice the sacrifices being made behind the scenes.
Growth In Unchosen Seasons
SPEAKER_00Recently, while reflecting on a recorded message I shared about perseverance, purpose, and the healthcare technology management industry, one truth kept rising to the surface. Some of the greatest growth in our lives happens in seasons we would have never chosen for ourselves. In HTM, we quickly learned that success is rarely built in comfort. It's built during emergency calls, through missed lunches, late-night repairs, unexpected downtime situations.
The Reality Of HTM Pressure
SPEAKER_00Moments when patients are dependent on systems that most people never even think about. This field has a way of testing your patience, your confidence, and sometimes even your identity. You expected the promotion to come sooner. You thought your effort would be recognized more quickly. You imagined the road would be smoother. But challenges have a way of revealing what's truly inside of us. Pressure exposes character. Adversity develops endurance. Resistance creates death. The reality is this. Every impactful leader has walked through difficult seasons. Every mentor has overcome moments of doubt. Every legacy worth remembering required sacrifice.
Your Work Quietly Saves Lives
SPEAKER_00And if you're listening to this while feeling overlooked, exhausted, or uncertain about your future in this field, I want to remind you of something important. Your work matters. Every device you repair, every inspection you complete, every piece of equipment you help bring back online contributes to patient care in ways many people will never fully understand. Even if your name is never announced, even if your efforts go unseen, the impact is still real.
Mentors Who Keep You Going
SPEAKER_00But no one is meant to walk this journey alone. One of the greatest gifts in life is having people around you who remind you who you are when pressure tries to convince you otherwise. Real mentors, real leaders, real co-workers, people who speak life into you when your confidence starts fading. Sometimes one conversation can keep someone from quitting. One encouraging voice can help someone push through another difficult season. One mentor can completely change the trajectory of a career and even a family legacy. That's why our industry needs more than skilled technicians. It needs people willing to encourage, lead, teach, and pull others forward. Because somebody once did that for us. Somebody opened a door, somebody shared knowledge, somebody believed in our future before we fully believed in ourselves.
Passing The Torch To Others
SPEAKER_00Now it becomes our responsibility to do the same for the next generation. Whether you are just entering the HTM field or you've dedicated decades to this profession, never forget this truth.
Turning Adversity Into Legacy
SPEAKER_00Where you are today is not where your story ends. The shop floor is not your limitation, it's your training ground. The pressure you feel today may very well be preparing you for the leadership, influence, and purpose you've been praying for all along. And one day, when someone asks how you made it through the difficult seasons, you'll be able to say, I didn't allow adversity to stop me. I allowed it to strengthen me. I didn't run from the pressure, I grew through it. And I turned difficult moments into the foundation for something greater. That's how purpose is built. That's how leaders are developed. That's how legacies are created.
